Alice Hu - Contemporary Artist

"I am a philosophy-based artist, these questions and my desire to seek the ‘answers’ is my fuels that keeps me going on in the past. There are many things that fascinate me in this world, and I will never stop my quest for exploring them and finding my answers by creating artworks. "

Alice Hu was born in China, Changchun. She moved to Australia when she was only 11. Alice started to show her interests in art at a very young age, with her father’s help as a painter, she started to creative works, sketching everything around her, the daily life of her neighbors, the gardens, wildlife, homeless peoples on the street… These sketches stimulated her interests in the natural sciences and the complexity of the human minds. Since she spent almost half of her life in various countries, her work reflects humanity as a species, overlooking the difference between the culture of each country.

Her passion towards art has driven her to study Bachelor of Contemporary Arts at The University of South Australia. She loved philosophy and enjoy expressing her ideas through art in various forms. She started by drawing, and painting; and her skills have developed in working with sculptures, glass, installation and mixed-medium. She is a contemporary artist, visual artist, a illustractor, ceramicist, glassblower, she is whatever she wan' to be whenever she needs. She is still developing her own style, to bring all her skills together and explore her ideas batter. She is also seeking more opportunities to learn and develop herself further as a professional artist. She said, “I can’t imagine my life without the arts. It’s always been with me and it’s far beyond a hobby or a job, it’s a part of me.” No matter what art form she chose to express with, it’s all about putting an idea out there and sharing her thoughts and researches with the world.
